The Christmas Pickle is a midwestern Christmas tradition where a decoration (often a blown glass ornament in the shape of a pickle) is hidden in the Christmas tree. The finder often gets a small prize or is considered to be lucky for the coming year, much like a king cake baby in New Orleans. There's some debate about the origin of the tradition, but this sweater was designed to resemble the texture of a lovely cucumber pickle.

Yarn note: the original sample was knit in Indigodragonfly MCN Sport (80% wool, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon, with 240 yds / 219 m per 115g skein, color: Well Put Me On The Short Bus and Send Me Off To Clueless School (Lorne The Host). As this yarn is no longer available, we've done yarn calculations based on the closest currently-available yarn.
