Metis is Athena's mother in Greek mythology (Her son, Porus, is the "personification of resourcefulness or expediency" according to Plato). Metis' children are a good summary of your typical knitter's skillset, no? This is a fairly simple pattern, but looks infinitely more complex thanks to the multicolor Noro yarn used. (Color #332 is the closest current Noro color)

It would also look great in a rich kettle-dyed yarn or even a gradient kit (Neighborhood Fiber Co Studio DK and Dragonfly Fibers Traveller offer some perfect choices that you could combine with a solid for a dramatic yoke/sleeves and plain body).

What can I say? I have a bit of a thing for Greek mythology... I even dressed up as Athena for Halloween one year as a child (blame Clash of the Titans).

Inspired by the stunning colors of a farmstand and photographed during the sheep and wool festival in Rhinebeck, NY this sweater is a fast, fun knit with a (only slightly scary) steek at the end.

This is a very VERBOSE pattern that has been rewritten and tech edited a second time for release to my Patreon patrons. I'm offering up steeking help (see pattern for details) for those among you who are nervous about cutting your knitting for the first time.

You can choose either a printed copy of the pattern, professionally printed on glossy paper or a digital download (PDF). If you would like a printed copy please let us know during checkout. If you are a guild member, own a yarn shop or would like to order copies in bulk for a knit-along, please email us at info@cooperativepress.com).
